Always be a Beginner
One of the most loving practices you can give yourself and others, is to remember to always be a beginner! No matter how much expertise and wisdom we gain in life, the possibilities of growth are limitless, so there is always more to learn.
When you do become an expert in something, it can be really hard to remember what it was like NOT to know what you know. But there was a time when it was totally foreign, like a new language. Remembering this helps us share our wisdom in a way that is actually digestible.
For example, in my everyday life, Chakra balancing and awareness is now second nature. I don’t even think about it consciously, but I am always aware of my chakras. Recently, I was working with a client, and I had previously used my pendulum to clear her chakras. The next session, she asked if we could listen to a chakra clearing guided meditation while I did lymphatic drainage. I happily found one for us to listen to, and she asked a brilliant question. “What actually are the Chakras? Like, what do they even do? I was listening to a guided meditation yesterday about them, but I couldn’t connect because I don’t even know what they are.” BRILLIANT QUESTION!!!!!
I TOTALLY forgot what it was like for me 8 years ago, when I didn’t know either. Her question became an opportunity for me to explain the basics and remember what it felt like to hear the revelation of energy centers in your body for the first time. I explained that each Chakra is a different energy center of the body, and emanates a specific vibratory frequency. These frequencies can be measured in waves, like color and sound, and each Chakra actually corresponds to a specific color and key of music. They share the same frequencies.
My client’s face LIT UP! “That’s why you said my 1st and 7th chakra needed clearing! I get it! And without knowing why, I was already looking to bring more Red and White into my life.” I could have taken off flying, I was so excited for her profound realization! And it came from the beautiful reminder that being an expert is useless if you can’t remember what it is to be a beginner. I am beginning again today. Are you?
